DENTON - After dropping their first six Conference USA games, Louisiana Tech has righted the ship as the Lady Techsters have won four of their last six.

Head coach Mark Montgomery and Co. will continue to try to climb in the league standings this weekend when they take on second place North Texas in a three-game series at Lovelace Stadium.

The series consists of a Saturday doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. and a Sunday single game starting at 1 p.m. Fans can listen to a free audio broadcast of all three games at http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/latech.portal with Malcolm Butler providing the call of the action.

Tech (13-24, 4-8 C-USA) has won two out of three games in league play each of the last two weekends against Middle Tennessee and Florida Atlantic. The Lady Techsters are fighting to qualify for the end of the year Conference USA Tournament which takes only the top eight (out of 13) teams.

One area where the Lady Techsters have made big strides recently is on defense. After committing 58 errors in their first 33 games of the season, Tech hasn't committed a single error in its last four contests - the longest such streak of the year.

Pauline Tufi (9-7, 3.34 ERA) and Bianca Duran (4-14, 3.83 ERA) will be challenged in the circle this weekend by a powerful North Texas lineup that boasts 33 home runs on the season. The duo has pitched much more consistently over the last few weeks as Tufi was recently named the LSWA State Pitcher of the Week.

Offensively, Tech is led by Kristen Miles (.333, 23 runs), Janine Godwin (.308, 15 runs), Duran (.272, 9 doubles, 19 RBI), Tufi (.257, 2 HR, 21 RBI), Hailey Winter (.250, 10 RBI), Anna Cross (.236, 2 HR, 19 RBI) and Katelynn Hill (.235, 8 RBI).

North Texas (23-13, 8-4 C-USA) currently sits in a two-way tie for second place in the league standings although the Mean Green dropped all three games against UAB last weekend at home.

NT boasts a team batting average of .302 led by Jennifer Beardsley (.387, 7-8 SB), Danielle Hoff (.380, 28 runs, 27 RBI), Brooke Foster (.364, 11 HR, 26 RBI), Kat Strunk (.330, 6 HR, 36 RBI), and Terry Jordan (.314, 3 HR, 23 RBI).

In the circle, Ashley Kirk (15-6, 3.09 ERA) is the ace of a staff which also includes Lauren Poole (5-3, 3.02 ERA), Kenzie Grimes (1-1, 3.77 ERA) and Madison Thompson (2-3, 5.21 ERA).

North Texas leads the all-times series 5-4, including a 3-2 win over LA Tech in the last meeting in 2011.
