Softball Heads to Northwestern State Wednesday

NATCHITOCHES, La. - Louisiana Tech and Northwestern State will meet for the sixth and final time this year when the Lady Techsters travel to face the Demons Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Northwestern State (28-9, 9-5 Southland) has won three of the first five meetings between the two teams although Louisiana Tech (19-17, 5-4 WAC) took the last meeting with an 8-0 decision in Ruston on March 27.

Tech, which also took a 4-3 win over the Demons in Natchitoches on March 2, enters the game looking to snap a two-game losing streak after falling twice to Texas State this past weekend. Prior to the losses, the Lady Techsters recorded a season-long six game winning streak which started with the victory over Northwestern State.

Offensively, Tech continues to boast eight players batting over .300 led by Melanie Goff (.403, 25 RBI), Kristen Miles (.380, 28 runs), Erin Kipp (.358, 10-12 SB), Anna Cross (.329, 4 HR, 25 RBI), Janna Frandrup (.327, 19 RBI), Alayna Kipp (.326, 2 HR, 13 RBI), Amanda Krueger (.317, 5 HR, 20 RBI), and Meghan Knowles (.309, 4 HR, 14 RBI).

In the circle, Michelle Jones (10-8, 3.39 ERA), Cross (4-3, 3.45 ERA) and Goff (2-2, 2.54 ERA, 3 saves) have earned the majority of action over the past month of the season.



Northwestern State has also been impressive offensively this year, led by Brianna Rodriguez (.370, 4 HR, 30 RBI), Tara McKenney (.368, 10-10 SB), Brittany Virgoe (.341, 7 HR, 29 RBI), Cassandra (.333, 10 HR, 30 RBI) and Shanequia Abby (.319, 9 RBI).

Kylie Roos has been the ace of a deep NSU staff, sporting a 10-2 record with a 1.24 earned run average. Kaylee Guidry (8-3, 1.69 ERA), Brooke Boening (7-4, 2.91 ERA) and Baylee Gray (2-0, 3.07 ERA) have also been impressive in the circle.
