Techsters Host Lions Wednesday

RUSTON - Louisiana Tech will host Southeastern Louisiana in a midweek non-conference game Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.

The Lady Techsters enter the contest 21-19 overall on the season, including a 6-3 mark at home while Southeastern Louisiana boasts a 26-16 record. Tech leads the all-time series against the Lions 45-14 although this is the only meeting between the two teams this year.

Tech, which is 6-6 against Southland Conference schools this year, is coming off a weekend series against San Jose State in which the Lady Techsters dropped two out of three games.

The Lady Techsters continue to sport an impressive team batting average as Tech leads the WAC with a .312 mark along with 24 home runs and 49 doubles. Kristen Miles is stops on the team with a .375 mark but is followed closely by Melanie Goff (.367, 26 RBI), Erin Kipp (.348, 3 HR, 18 RBI), Anna Cross (.333, 5 HR, 26 RBI), Amanda Krueger (.328, 5 HR, 21 RBI), Alayna Kipp (.326, 2 HR, 15 RBI), Janna Frandrup (.325, 23 RBI) and Meghan Knowles (.301, 5 HR, 15 RBI). Dacia Hale (.242, 4 HR, 17 RBI) has also been one of the hottest hitters on the team in recent weeks.

In the circle, Tech could see any of five different arms get some action as the staff consists of Goff (2-3, 3 saves, 2.84 ERA), Cross (5-4, 3.52), Michelle Jones (10-8, 3.74), Erin Kipp (3-2, 5.62) and Frandrup (1-2, 1 save, 6.30).



The Lions come into the game having lost two out of three games at Lamar this past weekend but also sport some impressive offensive numbers. Southeastern is batting .298 as a team with 32 home runs and 47 doubles on the season.

Katie Lacour leads the Lions with a .407 batting average followed by Michelle Duhe (.353, 11 RBI), Kelsey Nichols (.336, 5 HR, 35 RBI), Kayla Elswick (.289, 2 HR, 14 RBI), Amber Sather (.288, 8 HR, 35 RBI) and Meghan Moore (.282, 6 HR, 30 RBI).

Similar to LA Tech, the Lions utilize five pitchers including Rachael Hellyer (11-1, 2.37 ERA), Taylor Bishop (4-6, 2.62), Katie Morse (3-4, 2.89), Kenna Terry (7-4, 3.11) and Jessie Brown (1-1, 3.77).
