April 16, 2018

RUSTON – Fresh off its third straight sweep in Conference USA action and owning the nation’s fourth longest winning streak, Louisiana Tech will host its final home midweek game of the year Tuesday when the Lady Techsters welcome Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

First pitch is 6 p.m. and admission is free. Fans can watch the game live with a paid subscription to CUSATV.com.

The Lady Techsters (27-17, 13-5 C-USA) enter the game with an 11-game winning streak, which ranks as the fourth longest active streak in the country, and the program’s longest since a 21-game winning streak in 1996. Tech is coming of a weekend that saw it sweep UTSA 7-4, 4-0 and 3-2, including a dramatic three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh in Sunday’s finale against the Roadrunners.

During its 11-game winning streak, LA Tech has swept three-game league series against Southern Miss, Charlotte and UTSA while winning a pair of midweek games against Grambling State and Stephen F. Austin. Tech has outscored its opponents 78-26 during the 11-games.

Preslee Gallaway continues to lead the LA Tech pitching staff. The Pilot Point, Texas native is 14-6 with a 2.43 earned run average (6-0, 2.00 ERA during winning streak) and is coming off a weekend that saw her record 18 strikeouts in 14 innings. Krystal De La Cruz (3-7, 3.68), Erin McDonald (2-0, 1.75 ERA), Jenny Chapman (1-0, 2.96 ERA) and Bailey Allen (2-1, 3.27 ERA) round out the talented Tech staff.

Morgan Turkoly (.409, 32 runs, 21 RBI), Sloane Stewartson (.374, 4 HR, 19 RBI), Kimmie Atienza (.311, 23 runs, 9-12 SB), Taria Page (.248, 5 HR, 28 RBI), Jazlyn Crowder (.246, 28 runs, 18-20 SB) and Katie Smith (.241, 21 RBI, 22-22 SB) have led a resurgent Lady Techster offense in recent weeks.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff (12-22, 8-5 SWAC) is led offensively by Tonney Hawkins (.351, 10 RBI, 12-14 SB), Ta’Lyn Moody (.342, 22 runs, 13-16 SB), Shanice Akins (.299, 10-13 SB) and Alexandria Taylor (.261, 22 runs, 11-11 SB).

In the circle, the Golden Lions rely mainly on Juliana Dominique (4-5, 5.08 ERA), Karia Hall (3-9, 6.67 ERA) and Angelique Ramos (5-8, 7.64 ERA).

Following Tuesday’s midweek game, LA Tech will host its final home Conference USA series of the year when the Lady Techsters welcome UAB. The series will pit the top two teams in the league as the Lady Techsters are No. 1 and UAB is No. 2 in the standings. Saturday’s doubleheader is set for 2 p.m. while Sunday’s finale is set for 1 p.m.
