RUSTON - Louisiana Tech travels down I-20 on Tuesday to face Grambling State in a single game at 4 p.m. at the GSU Softball Complex.
Tech (17-27) is coming off a weekend that saw the Lady Techsters drop two out of three against Conference USA foe Southern Miss. The Lady Techsters dropped the first two games 2-0 and 4-3 before coming back Saturday to win 7-0.
Grambling State (11-19) lost all three of its games to Southwestern Athletic Conference rival Prairie View A&M, falling 3-0, 8-5 and 4-1 in Texas.
This marks the second game of the season between LA Tech and Grambling State as the Lady Techsters defeated the Tigers 4-1 in Ruston on Feb. 19. Tech leads the all-time series 10-0.
Over the last month of the season, freshman Pauline Tufi has carried the Lady Techsters both offensively and in the circle. Tufi is batting .351 with three home runs and 14 RBI in the last 17 games while also recording a 7-4 mark and a 1.54 earned run average in the circle during that same time.
Kristen Miles continues to lead LA Tech at the plate, boasting a .358 batting average with a team-high 26 runs scored. Tufi (.293, 4 HR, 30 RBI), Hailey Winter (.261, 2 HR, 12 RBI), Janine Godwin (.255, 15 runs) and Anna Cross (.250, 4 HR, 25 RBI) round out the top five hitters statistically for Tech.
Tufi (12-8, 2.72 ERA) and Bianca Duran (5-16, 3.78 ERA) carry the pitching load for the Lady Techsters.
Grambling State is led offensively by Bridgette Simmons (.385, 11 RBI), Morgan Butler (.350, 6 HR, 18 RBI), Briana Carmouche (.338, 2 HR, 21 RBI), Brianna Maiden (.328, 3 HR, 13 RBI) and Angela Perez (.323, 7 HR, 19 RBI).
Perez is the Lady Tigers top arm in the circle as she sports a 9-9 record with a 2.59 earned run average.
