April 26, 2018
MCKINNEY, Texas -- While the rest of Conference USA is battling it out on the diamond this weekend with five league series scheduled, first place Louisiana Tech will step out of conference to face an old WAC foe in Utah State in a two-game series at Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
Single games are set for Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. Admission for Friday is $5 while Saturday's contest is free. The games can be heard through the Louisiana Tech X mobile app with Malcolm Butler providing a call of the action.
Tech (31-18, 15-6 C-USA) enters the weekend having won 15 of its last 16 games, including a 9-4 win over Northwestern State Wednesday night in Natchitoches. Utah State (17-27, 6-12 Mountain West) is coming off an impressive 4-2 victory over BYU on Wednesday night in Provo, Utah.
The Lady Techsters lead the all-time series against the Aggies 18-10 with 26 of the 28 games coming while both programs were a member of the Western Athletic Conference. Tech and Utah State have not met since 2013 when the Aggies took two of three from the Lady Techsters in Logan.
Preslee Gallaway (16-6, 2.32 ERA) will get one start in the circle for LA Tech this weekend with the second start most likely going to either Krystal De La Cruz (4-8, 3.54) or Bailey Allen (2-1, 3.21). Jenny Chapman (1-0, 2.90) and Erin McDonald (3-0, 1.31) could also see some time in the circle this weekend.
