RUSTON - With its three-game sweep over Seattle this weekend, Louisiana Tech earned the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Western Athletic Conference Tournament which will be hosted by the Lady Techsters Wednesday through Saturday at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.
Tech (26-24, 11-10 WAC) will play No. 6 seed UT Arlington Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the second game of the day following No. 4 seed Texas State against No. 5 seed UTSA which will start at 4:30 p.m. The No. 3 seed is the highest ever by a Lady Techster team, surpassing its previous best of No. 4 accomplished three other times.
WAC regular season champion San Jose State earned the No. 1 seed while New Mexico State earned the No. 2 seed. Both the Spartans and the Aggies earned a first day bye and won't play until Thursday.
Every game that the Lady Techsters play in the tournament can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network on either ESPN 97.7 FM or KPCH 99.3 FM with Hebert's Town and Country serving as the title radio sponsor. Wednesday night's opener against UT Arlington can be heard live on KPCH 99.3 FM with the pregame show starting at 6:45 p.m.
The Western Athletic Conference, in conjunction with its Website partner NeuLion, has announced it will stream the 2013 WAC Softball Tournament live. Viewers can sign up by visiting www.WACsports.tv. Every game of the tournament can be viewed for a single subscription price of $9.95. More information and how to subscribe to any of these video streaming events can be found at www.WACsports.tv.
Tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased by calling the Tech Ticket Office at 318-257-3631, emailing email@example.com or logging onto www.LATechSports.com. The Louisiana Tech Ticket Office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Ticket prices for the tournament are as follows:
All-Session -- $25 for adults; $10 for youth (18 and under) and $5 for WAC students with a valid ID
Single-Day -- $10 for adults; $5 for youth (18 and under)
General Admission (outfield hill) -- $5 per day
WAC student tickets can only be purchased in person at the Tech Ticket Office or at the softball stadium on game-days during the tournament as buyers have to present a valid student ID.
All tickets purchased at the stadium during the tournament must be paid for with cash. Credit cards can only be used for pre-purchased tickets prior to the event.
This will mark the first time that Louisiana Tech has hosted the WAC Softball Tournament although the Lady Techsters have qualified for the event each of the last seven years (LA Tech joined Fresno State and Hawaii as the only schools to qualify for all seven).
Tech is 10-11 all-time in WAC Tournament games with all 10 of its wins coming against higher seeds. The Lady Techsters won the 2008 WAC Tournament hosted by Hawaii in Honolulu.
