RUSTON - Louisiana Tech utility player Pauline Tufi was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team on Wednesday by a vote of the league coaches.
Tufi was one of 11 rookies in the 13-team league to earn a spot on the squad.
The Anchorage, Alaska native batted .281 on the season with 43 hits, including 10 doubles, one triple and four home runs. Tufi set a Louisiana Tech freshman single season record with 34 RBI during the year while also scoring 16 runs. She was 3-for-4 in stolen bases and led the team with 67 total bases.
She collected her first career home run against Big 12 champion Oklahoma and also belted a game-winning two-run home run in a 3-2 road win over Stephen F. Austin. Tufi registered a career-high six RBI in a 7-0 win over Southern Miss.
In the circle, Tufi registered a 13-10 record with a 3.43 earned run average. She logged 140.2 innings of work, allowing 134 hits and 56 walks while totaling 113 strikeouts. Tufi recorded complete-game shutouts over Florida Atlantic and Southern Miss.
