RUSTON - Louisiana Tech junior Erin Kipp picked up another honor on Thursday as she was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Central Region second team.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first and second teams selected for each region. The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2013 NFCA Division I All-American teams.
Kipp, who was named second team all-Western Athletic Conference last week and who has already been named to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 team, was one of four Western Athletic Conference players to earn all-region honors, joining New Mexico State outfielders Stacie Rodriguez and Amber Olive and San Jose State pitcher Amanda Pridmore.
The Bullard, Texas native earned her spot on the all-region team after a junior campaign that saw her bat .349 on the year with 14 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 27 runs scored and 21 RBI. She also successfully stole 11-of-15 bases on the year while recording a .555 slugging percentage and a .422 on-base percentage.
The 2013 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at 4 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, May 29, via NFCA.org.
