RUSTON - The Louisiana Tech softball team's doubleheader against Northwestern State has been rescheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.
Head coach Sarah Dawson's squad will get its first opportunity to play as the doubleheader are the first of eight fall games scheduled for the Lady Techsters.
Tech is coming off its second consecutive winning season as the Lady Techsters posted a 34-23 record last year and finished fourth in the highly competitive Western Athletic Conference. The Lady Techsters must replace their entire starting outfield as seniors Emma Barnes, Danielle Sheridan, Krissi Oliver and Lyndsey McIlwain all graduated.
Dawson also returns her top pitcher in junior Meghan Krieg (20-7, 1.85 ERA), who earned second team all-conference honors a year ago. However, Dawson will be counting on a couple of true freshmen to give the pitching staff some depth in Michelle Jones and Janna Frandrup.
The Lady Techsters are also scheduled to participate in the Bossier Parish Community College tournament Saturday with games set for 9 a.m. (vs. Northwestern State), 1 p.m. (vs. LSU-Alexandria) and 4 p.m. (vs. Lon Morris).
