RUSTON - As part of the many events surrounding homecoming weekend on the Louisiana Tech campus, the Lady Techster softball program will play a pair of fall games while also hosting its Alumni Weekend.
Head coach Mark Montgomery and the Lady Techsters will host Bossier Parish Community College Friday night at 7 p.m. and Louisiana-Monroe Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with both games being played at the Lady Techster Softball Complex. The Alumni Game is set for Sunday at 11 a.m. Anyone Lady Techster Alumni wishing to play should contact assistant coach Emerald Doria at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Tech is 3-0 on its fall season after its 3-1 come-from-behind victory over Kilgore College last Saturday in a game that saw the Lady Techsters plate all three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Senior Erin Kipp drove home the tying run with an RBI double and then junior Bianca Duran recorded the game-winning hit with a two-run single.
Montgomery and Co. also have a 3-1 win over LSU-Alexandria and a 14-0 game-shortened win over Centenary this year.
Freshman Pauline Tufi (.571, 4 RBI), sophomore Anna Cross (.500, 1 HR, 3 RBI) and Duran (.400, 1 HR, 7 RBI) have led the Lady Techsters at the plate this fall. As a team the Techsters are batting .316 and have outscored their opponents 20-2.
In the circle, Cross (1-0, 0.00 ERA), Duran (2-0, 0.00 ERA) and Tufi (0-0, 0.88 ERA) have been dominating, allowing only nine hits and four walks with 20 strikeouts in 18.0 innings of work.
