2010 Schedule

RUSTON - Louisiana Tech head coach Sarah Dawson announced her 2010 softball schedule which includes four tournaments and 17 home games for the Lady Techsters who are coming off back-to-back winning seasons.

Tech, which posted a 34-23 record last year including the program's first ever winning record in Western Athletic Conference play (12-8), returns 15 letter-winners and four all-conference selections to this season's team.

Dawson and Co. will participate in four tournaments, including events hosted by Southern Miss (Feb. 20-21), McNeese State (Feb. 26-28), Auburn (March 5-7) and Arkansas (March 13-14).

The Southern Miss Tournament will include Notre Dame, Stephen F. Austin and Alcorn State while the McNeese State Tournament will feature Buffalo and the host Cowgirls. Auburn's Tournament features Gardner-Webb, Alabama State, Tennessee State and the Tigers while Arkansas's Tournament will include Southeast Missouri State, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and the Lady Backs.

"Our 2010 schedule is full of challenging competition," Dawson said. "We face a number of Top 20 programs the first part of our season to prepare us for WAC competition. Every year the WAC continues to become a stronger softball conference, and I believe with our non-conference schedule we will be well prepared for our conference opponents."

Tech opens its 2010 season February 16 when it hosts Southeastern Louisiana in a doubleheader at the Lady Techster Softball Complex. Tech also has non-conference games against Centenary, Grambling State, Texas-Arlington and Mississippi Valley State.

The Lady Techsters 21-game WAC schedule features three-game series against the other seven conference foes, including four home series against Utah State, New Mexico State, Nevada and Boise State. Tech will travel to face Fresno State, Hawaii and San Jose State.

The 2010 Western Athletic Conference Tournament will be hosted by New Mexico State on May 12 through the 15.
