CONWAY, Ark. - The Louisiana Tech tennis team turned in a solid performance on Sunday evening, posting a 6-1 victory over Central Arkansas.
"I am pleased with today's performance," said head coach Chad Camper. "A few things could have been better, but that's what is good about early season matches. We can learn from it and improve even more."
Doubles has been a big emphasis lately in practice and it showed as LA Tech (2-1, 1-0 C-USA) swept all three matches to open up the contest with the doubles point.
Joanna Nalborska delivered the first singles point of the day from the No. 3 spot, a 6-1, 6-0 routing of Kelsey Williams.
Marta Sramkova, playing at No. 2 for the first time, had an equally impressive showing by winning with the same score as Nalborska.
The clincher came soon thereafter from the No. 1 spot by Alexandra Starkova over Simona Horsikyan, 6-3, 6-3.
Central Arkansas (0-1) got its lone point of the day from Sasha Ruocco who defeated Tech's Manoela Chiacchio, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (11).
Next up for the Lady Techsters is a trip to New Orleans on Friday, Feb. 14 to face UNO.
