NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Louisiana Tech tennis team continued its early season dominance on Friday evening as they took down UNO, 6-1, at the University Tennis Center.
LA Tech (3-1, 1-0 C-USA) won its third straight match, all while surrendering less than one game in each. The loss for New Orleans (2-1) was its first of the spring.
"Our doubles really showed improvement," said head coach Chad Camper. "We executed and made the adjustments necessary to be successful. Manoela played outstanding and our top two really brought their A-game. It was a good day for us."
In singles, Joanna Nalborska erupted at the No. 2 spot for a 6-0, 6-0 defeat of UNO's Grace Nolan. Alexandra Starkova followed suit by recording a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 1, extending her winning streak to 11 matches.
Manoela Chiacchio rebounded from a tough loss in the previous match to provide the clincher, a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 against Yasmine Rashad.
The Privateers picked up their lone point of the day at No. 3 singles with Anna Segarra Ruis beating Marta Sramkova, 6-4, 6-1.
