RUSTON - It was the home opener for the Louisiana Tech tennis team and they certainly did not disappoint the fans as they swept Grambling State, 6-0, on a gorgeous Saturday evening at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.
"It was a great day for us today," said head coach Chad Camper. "It was beautiful weather, a great crowd and our women played with a lot of effort. They were really excited about their first home match and it showed on the court."
The victory marked the fourth straight for LA Tech (4-1, 1-0 C-USA) who continues to find its groove in the early parts of the spring schedule.
The match would be put away quickly for LA Tech as three singles - Sramkova, Jazmin Britos and Merker - posted 6-0, 6-0 victories.
GSU (0-2) suffered its second straight setback.
The schedule toughens up for LA Tech as they next travel to take on Lamar next Saturday, Feb. 22 in Beaumont, Texas at 2 p.m. The Techsters then head to Lake Charles, La. to take on McNeese State on Feb. 23 with a first serve of 2:30 p.m.
