Nacogdoches, TEXAS - The Louisiana Tech tennis team returned to the courts on Sunday afternoon, but dropped a 6-1 decision in their first road match of the season to Stephen F. Austin at the Schlief Tennis Complex.

The doubles pairs remained the same for the third consecutive match for LA Tech (1-2) and first-year head coach Freddy Gomez.

The No. 3 duo of Alena Erofeyeva and Sophie Heldoorn lost 8-4 to SFA's Margot de Haan and Laura Servise in the first concluded match of the day.

Stephen F. Austin (2-5) then clinched the doubles point with a win at the No. 1 spot, 8-6 over Vivian ten Dolle and Manoela Chiacchio. In the final doubles match still in progress, the No. 2 pair of Melanie Urvoy and Taly Merker fell in a hard-fought tiebreaker that finished 8-7 (7-4).

Coach Gomez switched up the singles lineup for the first time this season, moving Urvoy up to No.2, followed by Merker at No. 3 and Chiacchio at No. 4 with the remaining spots being the same.

After Merker was defeated by the Ladyjacks de Haan 6-1, 6-2, both Heldoorn and ten Dolle dropped their matches by the same score, 6-3, 6-3 to secure the victory for SFA.

Urvoy took the first set, 6-3 in her first match of the season in the No. 2 spot against the Ladyjacks Julia Lorca, but Lorca rebounded to win the last two sets 6-2, 6-2.
