LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Louisiana Tech tennis team picked up their first road win of the season by defeating UALR 5-2 on Saturday evening at the Pleasant Valley Country Club. LA Tech (2-3) ended their three-game losing streak in a match that saw four of the six singles matches go to three sets. The contest began with the Lady Techsters grabbing the all-important doubles point against UALR (9-5). The No. 2 duo of Melanie Urvoy and Taly Merker made quick work of their match, winning 8-2 over Dane Vorster and Kamilla Galieva. The clincher came from the No. 1 spot where Vivian ten Dolle and Manoela Chiacchio picked up their fourth win of the season with an 8-5 victory over Yana Kakovkina and Viktoriya Plyuta. Sophie Heldoorn notched her first win of the season at the No. 6 position with a straight sets win of 6-3, 6-1, before ten Dolle captured the third point of the day for LA Tech by also gaining a straight sets win, 7-5, 6-1. The Lady Trojans bounced back from there, pushing the remaining four matches on the court to three sets. UALR picked up wins at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, but Urvoy and Merker each rallied from a set down to gain the win for LA Tech.
