DENTON, Texas - The Louisiana Tech tennis team went toe-to-toe with No. 24 ranked Houston, but fell 4-0 to the Cougars on Friday evening at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
Despite being shutout, LA Tech (12-3) had three winnable matches unfinished on the courts. Jazmin Britos was up a set at No. 3 and had match point, Melanie Urvoy was up a set at No. 4 and at 5-all in the second and Taly Merker was at 1-all in the third set at No. 6.
"We played well today and gave Houston all they could handle," said head coach Chad Camper. "It showed we can hang with the top programs. This was a great match before we play North Texas tomorrow."

Playing at No. 2 singles for just the third time this season, Marta Sramkova dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision to Elena Kordolaimi.
UH's next point came at No. 5 where Tina Rupert ended Manoela Chiacchio's 10-match winning streak with a 7-5, 6-2 victory.
The clincher for the opposition came at No. 1 where 80th ranked Despiona Vogasari defeated Alexandra Starkova, 7-5, 6-2.
