SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Louisiana Tech tennis team had its five-game winning streak come to an end on Friday evening after falling to San Jose State 5-2 at the Spartan Tennis Complex.

LA Tech (6-4, 1-1 WAC) put force a gutsy effort against a SJSU (10-4, 2-0 WAC) squad that has been ranked as high as No. 64 in the country this season by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

All three doubles matches resulted in a final score of 8-6, but two of the matches went to the Spartans for the opening point.

The Spartans Jessica Willett quickly gave the host team its second point of the day at the No. 5 position over LA Techs' Taly Merker at the No. 5 spot.

However, the Lady Techsters responded by pulling out straight-set victories at the No. 2 position with Joanna Nalborska outlasting Chua Truong 6-2, 7-5 and at the No. 6 position with Manoela Chiacchio defeating Amber Walker 6-3, 7-5.

The close sets from the doubles then carried over to the remaining singles matches on the court as three of the top four spots went the distance.

LA Tech needed two more singles wins to complete the comeback, but Alexandra Starkova, Vivian ten Dolle and Melanie Urvoy all suffered three-set losses.
