DENTON, Texas - All spring, Louisiana Tech has used its singles depth to wear down opponents.
For the second straight match though the Lady Techsters were without Joanna Nalborska, a first team all-conference and conference freshman of the year last season, and for the second straight match it proved difficult to overcome.
Conference USA foe North Texas took advantage, coming out strong to win 4-1 on Saturday evening at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
"The girls played hard," said head coach Chad Camper. "North Texas has good coaching and they used it today. I look forward to getting healthy so we can really grow from these past two matches."
LA Tech (12-4, 3-1 C-USA) quickly found itself in a hole by dropping the doubles point. With Nalborska typically playing at the No. 2 spot in singles, everyone had to get bumped up again when the start of singles play.
North Texas (8-8, 2-1 C-USA) took a 2-0 advantage when Agustina Valenzuela defeated Melanie Urvoy, 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 4 position.
The Mean Green scored the next point as well from the No. 6 spot with a 7-5, 6-0 win for Franziska Springmeye over Taly Merker.
Alexandra Starkova then got the Techsters on the scoreboard, notching an impressive 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 1 before NT sealed the match at No. 2.
