
![]() LA Tech Tennis Falls to No. 43 Stephen F. Austin Sunday Afternoon

RUSTON, La. – The Louisiana Tech tennis team fought but fell to Stephen F. Austin, the 43rd ranked team in the nation, 7-0 Sunday afternoon at the Lady Techster Tennis Complex. With the defeat, the Lady Techsters are now 11-5 on the year while the ‘Jacks improve to 17-3. After SFA won the No. 1 doubles match 8-1, Tech’s duo of senior Maartje de Wit and junior Vivian ten Dolle defeated Julia Lorca and Alina Shazkho 8-5 at the No. 2 position. The No. 3 doubles match saw the team of junior Alena Erofeyeva and freshman Laura Fernandez tie the contest at 8-8 to force a tie-breaker against Elena Kordolaimi and Laura Servise. Erofeyeva and Fernandez drop the tie-breaker 7-5 as the ‘Jacks came away with the doubles point. SFA took five of the six singles matches in two-sets with the lone exception being the No. 3 match. Senior Elne Barnard took the first set 6-4 over Tereza Bekerova but fell in the second 6-2. The final set saw Bekerova win 10-5 to complete the sweep of the Lady Techsters. Louisiana Tech returns to action Thursday night at 6 p.m. as they travel to Vicksburg, Miss. to take on Alcorn State.
