LEWISTON, Idaho – For the fourth time in-a-row the Louisiana Tech tennis team won on the road as they defeated Lewis-Clark State 6-1 Saturday afternoon at LCSC Tennis Courts.
The Lady Techsters improve to 14-6 on the year while the Warriors drop to 7-13.
In the doubles portion of the competition, senior Maartje de Wit and junior Vivian ten Dolle started off with an 8-1 win versus Miranda Duggan and Barb Sneckner at the No. 2 position. Dominika Jasova and Dorothy Chong of LCSC then won at No. 1 8-4 over seniors Elne Barnard and Anna Zurek. Junior Alena Erofeyeva and freshman Laura Fernandez came through with an 8-5 win against Samantha Teigen and Bryn Oliveira for the doubles’ point for Tech.
Ten Dolle started the singles matches off with a 6-0, 6-1 win against Chong at No. 2 and was followed by a 6-1, 6-2 victory for Barnard at No. 3 over Sneckner.
Erofeyeva clinched the contest for the Lady Techsters with a two-set win against Duggan at the No. 4 spot. The victory was Erofeyeva’s 18 of the spring, tying her for the most wins in Tech history in dual matches since 1990.
At No. 5, Zurek defeated Teigen in two sets (7-5, 6-2) as sophomore Melanie Urvoy came back after dropping the first set at the No. 6 position to down Oliveira (0-6, 6-2, 6-2).
The Warriors lone point came at the No. 1 singles as Jasova defeated Fernandez 6-2, 6-2.
LA Tech finishes the regular season with a Western Athletic Conference match at Idaho on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
