MOSCOW, Idaho - Louisiana Tech's tennis team fell to Idaho 5-2 at the Memorial Gym and Administration Lawn Outdoor Courts in a Western Athletic Conference match.
The Lady Techsters end the regular season with a 14-7 mark and 0-3 in conference play while the Vandals are 18-7 and 3-1 in the WAC.
Idaho won all three doubles contests to take the doubles point but the team of junior Alena Erofeyeva and freshman Laura Fernandez nearly pulled off a win at the No. 3 position but fell 8-6 to Alejandra Lozano and Beatriz Flores.
In singles action, Erofeyeva won her fifth consecutive match and 19th in dual competitions with a two-set victory (6-0, 6-3) over Lozana at No. 5. Erofeyeva is one victory away from tying the program mark set in 1982 by Marla Watson.
Senior Elne Barnard won the Lady Techsters second point against Molly Knox at No. 3 (6-1, 7-5). With the win, Barnard has now won the fourth most single matches by a LA Tech player in the last 22 years.
The Vandals sealed the match by winning the other four singles contests.
Next up for Tech is the WAC Tournament in Las Cruces, N.M. beginning on Thursday against an opponent to be decided.
