April 23, 2009
HONOLULU, Hawaii - Louisiana Tech's tennis season ended Thursday evening in the first round of the 2009 WAC Championships by a final score of 4-0 in the first round. "We didn't do so well today," Tech head coach Quintin Yray said. "The girls have improved, and I believe we're going to be a lot tougher. I'm looking forward to working with the girls I'll have back and bringing new talent to the team." After a two-hour rain delay, No. 8 seeded San Jose State swept all matches against the Techsters (3-22) in two games. The doubles' teams did not play. Tech ends the season with just three match wins, and Yray said afterward he is confident about Tech's future in Techster tennis. "The girls fought tough all year," Yray added. "I'm looking forward to competing and getting better in the future." San Jose State 4, Louisiana Tech 0 Singles competition 1. Amber Silverstone (SJSU) def. Ashley Wedderburn (LATECH) 6-0, 6-0 2.
