LA Tech Falls in C-USA Tournament Quarterfinals
No. 6 Louisiana Tech was attempting to pull off the first upset of the C-USA Tournament, but a tough doubles point loss and bad breaks in singles led to a 4-0 loss to No. 3 North Texas in the quarterfinals on Friday afternoon at the Adams Tennis Complex.

The returners that will be in the lineup on Saturday include Sonia Chen and Nadja Manjon. The other four are freshmen – Paulina Cota, Karla De La Luz Montalvo, Claudia Oravcova and Andrea Perez-Lopez – and will be playing in their first collegiate dual match.

It is a tough league opponent right out of the gates in North Texas (1-1) who has already defeated the reigning American Athletic Conference champion South Florida by a final score of 4-3 this spring.

The Mean Green are led by junior Maria Kononova who plays at the top of the lineup and is currently ranked 42nd in the country in singles and is part of the 36th-ranked doubles team in the nation with junior Tamuna Kutubidze.

This will be the first time LA Tech has faced North Texas on the courts since 2016 when the Lady Techsters fell, 4-1, to the Mean Green.
