RUSTON, La. -- Louisiana Tech's tennis team starts its 2005 spring season on the road Friday as the Techsters take on Grambling State in a 2:05 p.m. match on the GSU tennis courts. Tech is coming off one of its best seasons in years after going 9-12 in 2004, and with the "interim" tag dropped from his job title Tech coach Terrence De Jongh feels good about his squad and its upcoming campaign. The fact that De Jongh has six returning veterans doesn't hurt either. "We're very excited," De Jongh said. "We feel like we made great progress last season and were competitive in all of our matches. The goal is to keep growing and getting better, so now we want to raise the bar and keeping pushing forward. That all starts against Grambling State." Louisiana Tech took a 6-1 win over Grambling in a home match last season. Tech opens up home play on Saturday with a 9 a.m. match against Stephen F. Austin.
