LA Tech Faces McNeese State, Louisiana-Lafayette this Weekend
Feb. 2, 2018
RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech women’s tennis team looks for its first dual win of the 2018 spring season and they will stay in-state to try to do it as they head south this weekend to face McNeese State and Louisiana-Lafayette.
First, the Lady Techsters will take on the Cowgirls in Lake Charles on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center. Then on Saturday, they will go to Lafayette to go up against the Ragin’ Cajuns on Sunday at 11 a.m. at Cajun Courts.
LA Tech (0-1) put up a strong fight in its dual opener which came at Conference USA foe North Texas. The Lady Techsters picked up singles victories from Nadja Manjon and Karla De La Luz Montalvo against the Mean Green.
Coupled with the two hidden duals, LA Tech got a lot of matches under its belt during the month of January. On the flipside, their first opponent McNeese State (0-0) will be playing for the first time this spring come Saturday.
Leading the way for the Cowgirls is Hannah Brett who was selected First Team All-Southland last season after putting together a 16-4 singles record.
The Lady Techsters have won three straight matches in the series, including a 5-0 victory last season at home.
On the other end, this will be the first time since 2014 that LA Tech takes on Louisiana-Lafayette (4-0) who enters the weekend undefeated with victories over Southeastern Louisiana, LSU-Alexandria, Southern and Northwestern State.
The Ragin’ Cajuns are led by Kelly Drew who plays primarily from the No. 1 spot. The Lady Techsters won the last meeting, 5-2, which snapped a six-match losing streak.
