RUSTON - After a two week break from the opening weekend of the spring season, the Louisiana Tech tennis team returns to the courts on Sunday at 10 a.m. to face Central Arkansas in Conway.
"We have taken the last two weeks to learn a better quality of tennis," said head coach Chad Camper. "We needed to tighten some things up in doubles and work on a more explosive singles game."
LA Tech (1-1, 1-0 C-USA) suffered a season-opening loss at Florida Gulf Coast, but responded in dominating fashion at Conference USA foe Florida Atlantic.
The Lady Techsters swept the Owls, 7-0, without dropping a single set.
Alexandra Starkova saw her first action at the No. 1 spot since mid-last season and it was an impressive showing - 6-0, 7-5 win. The victory extended her singles winning streak to nine.
On the other hand, Central Arkansas (0-0) has yet to serve off its spring season. The Sugar Bears host Harding University today before taking on LA Tech on Sunday.
"UCA has a good program," said Camper. "We will have to play well and use what we have learned in the last two weeks. We will be playing indoors this weekend, which will be a change for us so this is a good opportunity for us to play in a different environment."
