RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech’s tennis team travels to the southern portion of the state for three matches in three days this weekend. The Lady Techsters will play Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday at 2 p.m., Saturday at 11 a.m. against Southern and ending at Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Tech has won three straight matches including a sweep of Jackson State on Saturday to enter the weekend with a 3-1 record.
Four Lady Techsters are undefeated in singles matches this year with senior Elne Barnard and juniors Alena Erofeyeva and Vivian ten Dolle sporting 4-0 records apiece. Freshman Maria Coronel is 2-0 with both wins occurring at the No. 4 position the past two contests.
Head coach Quinton Yray is still figuring out his doubles teams as he has used seven different pairings so far this season. The only constant has been the team of seniors Anna Zurek and Barnard who sport a 2-2 mark together.
Louisiana-Lafayette is 1-4 on the season with their lone victory being a sweep at UAB. They have lost to Mississippi State, North Texas, then-No.71 ranked Rice and Samford.
Milou Israel leads the Ragin’ Cajuns in singles matches with a 2-2 mark in singles action while two pairings have a record of 2-1 in doubles action.
Southern enters with a mark of 0-4 with losses on the road to LSU, Mississippi State and Tulane while falling at home to Kennesaw State.
Southeastern Louisiana enters the weekend with a 1-0 record after defeating Southern Miss 4-3 on Sunday.
Audrey Chelini picked up a victory in singles action at the No. 1 position while Morgane Charpenne and Morgane Dadot had singles wins for the Lions as well.
