Lady Techsters Host Bobcats at LA Tech Tennis Complex on Sunday
Feb. 17, 2018
RUSTON -- For a third time this season, the Louisiana Tech women's tennis team will attempt to have its home opener not wiped out by rain when they take on Texas State on Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m. at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.
LA Tech (1-3) previously had its own home opener against in-state foe Northwestern State rained out on two separate occasions.
The Lady Techsters last played this past Monday when they went down to Lake Charles, suffering a 7-0 shutout to the McNeese State Cowgirls.
Sophomore Nadja Manjon and freshman Karla De La Luz Montalvo continue to pace the team in singles, each boasting a 3-1 dual mark. Junior Sonia Chen and freshman Paulina Cota each have one singles victory this spring.
Texas State (0-3) comes into Sunday having lost all three spring matches to Big 12 opponents -- Texas, Texas A&M and TCU. All three defeats came via shutout against some of the top competition in the country.
Junior Ana Perez plays at the No. 1 position for the Bobcats. She is 0-1 on the year with two incomplete matches. She was leading TCU's nationally-ranked opponent before the match was stopped.
LA Tech leads the all-time series over Texas State, 4-3. The Lady Techsters went to San Marcos, Texas last spring and won, 5-1. They have won four straight in the series after the Bobcats won the first three meetings.
