RUSTON - Coming off an emotional come-from-behind victory in its last match, the Louisiana Tech tennis team looks to ride that wave of confidence into this weekend when they travel to Birmingham, Ala. to take on two conference foes in Middle Tennessee and UAB.
The Lady Techsters first battle the Blue Raiders on Saturday at 12 p.m. on a neutral court and will turn around Sunday at 12 p.m. to face the Blazers at the UAB Tennis Courts.
LA Tech (6-1, 1-0 C-USA) managed to extend its six-match winning streak after coming back from 3-0 on the road against McNeese State to win four straight singles for the victory.
"The win versus McNeese State definitely gave us more confidence in our program," said head coach Chad Camper. "A match like that shows your strengths and weaknesses and we know there is a lot more work to do."
Jazmin Britos delivered one of the four points needed in the epic rally as the freshman has opened the spring dual season a perfect 6-0.
"It is conference time and everyone needs to be sharp," said Camper. "We are fine tuning some things in practice in order to be ready for success this weekend. These two matches will show us where we stand in the conference and the women are excited about the opportunity."
Middle Tennessee (4-2, 1-0 C-USA) has registered wins over Evansville, UAB, Austin Peay and Lipscomb.
In its last outing, the Blue Raiders fell 5-2 to Chattanooga. Tiffany Williams anchors the squad at the No. 1 spot where she is a perfect 6-0.
The Blazers are led by Rachel Daniell at the No. 1 spot.
