RUSTON - Coming off a hard-fought road win over UALR, the Louisiana Tech tennis team returns home to host two matches this weekend versus SWAC opponents at the Lady Techster Tennis Complex beginning with Southern on Saturday, March 9 at 2 p.m. followed by Grambling State on Sunday, March 10 at 1 p.m.
LA Tech (2-3) ended a three-game losing skid last weekend by upsetting the Lady Trojans 5-2 in Little Rock, Ark.
"We come into this weekend with great momentum," said head coach Freddy Gomez. "Our last win at Little Rock was a positive step and confidence booster for our team."
Senior Vivian ten Dolle has anchored the team thus far at the No. 1 singles position, compiling a team-best 4-1 record.
Both international players had a ton of success in Europe and hope to carry that success into the U.S. college format, starting this weekend against Southern and Grambling State.
"Southern and Grambling are good teams who are always hungry and looking for a victory against programs just like ours," said Gomez. "We look forward to continuing to play within our philosophy and getting a good result this weekend."
Southern enters with a 5-5 record on the season which included a five-game winning streak prior to dropping a 6-1 defeat at SE Louisiana.
