RUSTON - Louisiana Tech's Joanna Nalborska was announced today as the Western Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her performance in the opening weekend of conference play.

The Warsaw, Poland native led the Lady Techsters to a 3-1 finish last week in just three days of action at the Spartan Tennis Complex in San Jose, Calif.

The doubles tandem of Nalborska and Alexandra Starkova went a perfect 4-0 to remain undefeated as a duo this season.

The freshman also went undefeated in singles at the No. 3 and No. 2 positions without dropping a single set.

She opened the weekend by overpowering Texas State's Monica Pieratt 6-1, 7-5 and followed up her efforts the next day by besting San Jose State's Chau Truong 6-2, 7-5.

Her point against the Spartans, ranked as high as No. 64 in the country according to the International Collegiate Association (ITA), tied the match up at 2-2 before LA Tech lost three three-set matches to drop its only game of the week.

On the final day, Nalbroska cruised to a 6-4, 6-0 win over New Mexico State's Ginet Pinero and Seattle's Anna Lambert 6-1, 6-0 to improve her season singles record to 6-1.

This marked the second straight week a Lady Techster was honored by the WAC after Starkova earned Player of the Week for the week of March 11-17.

Gomez and Co. have three more conference matches coming up next weekend at the Louisiana Tech Tennis Complex where the Techsters will host Utah State, Denver and UTSA starting on Friday, March 29 at 9:30 a.m. CT.
