RUSTON, La. - A trip to the state of Idaho this weekend for two matches will end the regular season for the Louisiana Tech tennis team beginning at Lewis-Clark State on Saturday at 12 p.m. CT at the LCSC Tennis Center. The regular season finale will be on Sunday against Western Athletic Conference opponent Idaho at the Memorial Gym and Administration Lawn Outdoor Courts at 11 a.m. CT.
The Lady Techsters enter the weekend with a 13-6 record, the most victories by the program since the 1994 team won 17 matches.
Junior Alena Erofeyeva paces the squad with a 24-8 mark in singles matches and is 17-2 in duals having won her last three contests. Her 17 dual wins are the most by a Tech player since Jessica Velasco also won 17 in 1992.
Senior Elne Barnard is 14-5 in singles and is 12-5 at the No. 3 position. Junior Vivian ten Dolle picked up her 10th win of the spring at Southern on Sunday while senior Anna Zurek has nine dual victories.
The team of senior Maartje de Wit and ten Dolle has compiled a 13-7 mark including 12-4 in the spring. All of their matches this spring have taken place at the No. 2 flight. Barnard and Zurek are 11-8 together and are 10-7 at the No. 1 spot.
Lewis-Clark State is 7-12 on the year including 5-4 at home and is No. 14 in NAIA Tennis Coaches' Top 25 poll. Tech will be the Warriors 10th Division I opponent this season with the other nine contests resulting in defeat for LCSC.
Idaho enters with a 16-6 record after falling to San Francisco 5-2 on Thursday and is 1-1 in conference playing with a win over Nevada (4-3) at home and loss to New Mexico State (4-3) on the road. The Vandals will play at San Jose on Friday before hosting the Lady Techsters on Sunday.
