RUSTON - Freddy Gomez's Louisiana Tech tennis team earned the No. 3 seed in the 2013 WAC Women's Tennis Tournament to be hosted by the University of Denver at the Gates Tennis Center in Denver, Colo.
In just his first season as head coach, Gomez guided LA Tech to its best conference season in program history, gaining its highest seed ever with a 7-1 mark in WAC play.
Previously, the Lady Techsters were a combined 1-26 against WAC opponents during the regular season.
LA Tech (14-4) will take its eight-game winning streak into its first round match versus the No. 6 seed Texas State on Thursday, April 25 with the first serve set for 3 p.m. CT.
Denver and San Jose State, both nationally ranked, are seeded one and two, respectively.
Semifinal matches will be held on Friday at 3 p.m. CT and the conference championship will be decided on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT.
