Britos, Manjon Selected to All-Louisiana Team

May 14, 2017

RUSTON -- Louisiana Tech's Jazmin Britos and Nadja Manjon received more postseason accolades on Sunday as the duo was selected to the All-Louisiana Women's Tennis Team as part of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

A total of 12 players (six first team and six second team) from across the state were chosen in a vote by university sports information directors. LA Tech was one of four programs to have multiple players selected with Britos and Manjon both earning second team honors.

The senior Britos, who was an honorable mention All-Louisiana honoree last season, capped off a stellar career this past spring with a team-best 14-8 dual singles record, playing all 22 matches from the No. 1 position.

The 14 wins tied a career high and marked the fourth consecutive year of double-digit victories. She finished her four-year career with 51 dual singles wins, the third most in program history.

This season, she had two separate streaks of four straight wins. Some of her highlight wins included an 0-6, 6-2, 7-6 comeback victory over Brianna Lashway of No. 31-ranked Missouri and a straight-sets win in the first round of the C-USA Tournament versus Charlotte, improving her tournament record to 3-0 all-time.

She also went 11-9 in dual doubles this spring, partnering with three different teammates. All 20 of those matches were also played from the No. 1 spot in the lineup.

Manjon made an immediate impact as a freshman, registering a 12-11 dual singles record which tied for the fourth most wins by a LA Tech newcomer in the last 20 years.

She played everywhere from one through four in the lineup, eventually settling in at the No. 2 spot where she went 6-6. Some her highlight wins included a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 victory over All-Louisiana selection Hannah Brett of McNeese State and a 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 comeback win versus Lidia Burros of C-USA foe Middle Tennessee.

Manjon was just as impressive in doubles where she posted a team-best 15-6 mark, playing at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions with four different teammates. Her 27 combined dual wins was the third most by a Lady Techster freshman in program history.
