RUSTON - In the final 2013-14 Division I regional rankings released today by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, Louisiana Tech came in seventh in the southern region.
This marked the first time the Lady Techsters have ever garnered a ranking within their region, rankings that began in 2008 by the ITA.
Of the six schools that finished ahead of LA Tech only one (Samford) was not a member of the Southeastern Conference. Five were also nationally ranked in the final ITA poll.
Tech was also the second highest ranked team from Louisiana behind only LSU.
Head coach Chad Camper, recently named the Louisiana Coach of the Year, led his squad in his first year at the helm to a 15-7 overall record which included a program record 11-match winning streak.
LA Tech went a perfect 5-0 against state opponents and finished with a 3-1 mark in Conference USA matches to earn the No. 5 seed at the conference tournament where they reached the quarterfinals before dropping a 4-2 heartbreaker to Marshall.
