Ballinger will provide more depth for a LA Tech team who is coming off a 15-7 overall record and a seventh-place finish in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division I southern region rankings, second highest among all Louisiana programs.
"Haley is a great pickup for our program," said Camper. "There is a lot of raw talent there so she is far from reaching her full potential. It is great when you can get a really strong local player, who can make an immediate impact, come to Louisiana Tech."
From right down the road in Monroe, the left-hander has starred as a top-ranked junior tennis player at Ouachita Christian School and on the United States Tennis Association circuit.
She has been ranked as high as No. 2 in the state by the USTA while earning all-region honors from 2010-14, all-state honors from 2011-14 and was a state runner-up in singles and doubles.
The three-star prospect by tennisrecruiting.net has also been ranked as high as 19th out of the Gulf States section.
She was selected to play at the National Hard Court Championships twice, was a quarterfinalist in two college ITA tournaments - University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas-Arlington - and placed second in three STA level three tournaments in 2014.
Ballinger was endorsed by Louisiana for the Southern Closed Tournament from 2011-14 and was invited to participate in the Southern Cup, representing Team Louisiana in 2014 where she won eight matches at the event.
