RUSTON - Louisiana Tech tennis coach Chad Camper is coming off his first spring season with the Lady Techsters when he guided the team to a 15-win season and was named the Louisiana Coach of the Year.
Now Camper enters his first fall season with the team and he has put together a challenging schedule which includes six tournaments, as announced on Tuesday.
"We are starting and finishing the fall season against strong teams," said Camper. "I am excited about working with the returners and the three freshmen coming in this fall as we have a lot to learn and improve on. We have some challenging team goals this year and this schedule will get us prepared going into the spring."
The fall slate opens on Sept. 19 when the Techsters will participate in the Houston Invitational hosted by the University of Houston. The Cougars finished the season last year at No. 38 in the ITA national rankings.
The Amelia Island 10K Championships put on by the International Tennis Federation in Amelia Island, Fla. follows before the team travels back to the city of Houston to take part in the Rice Invitational on Sept. 27. The Owls are the defending Conference USA champions.
Next up is the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships in Los Angeles before the fall rounds out in Tuscaloosa, Ala. at the ITA Southern Regionals, hosted by the University of Alabama.
The national tournaments require selection into the events.
