RUSTON - Katherine Reigelman, the director of tennis at Squire Creek Country Club, has been named acting head coach of the Louisiana Tech tennis team by the athletic department following the recent departure of Freddy Gomez.
Gomez recently accepted a coaching position at another university.
"I want to thank Katherine for her willingness to provide sound leadership for our tennis program during this transition," said Louisiana Tech Athletics Director Tommy McClelland. "We are 100 percent committed to providing for these student-athletes and will be searching for a head coach in the near future."
Reigelman has been the head tennis pro at Squire Creek in Choudrant, La. since 2008 and is a Professional 1 member of the USPTA.
Former Lady Techster Vivian ten Dolle, also a tennis instructor at the country club, will serve alongside Reigelman as the assistant coach.
Ten Dolle was a two-time All-WAC selection during her four years (2009-13) at LA Tech and finished her career with 45 dual match wins, the fourth most in program history.
The team opens up the fall season this weekend at the second annual Big Easy Tennis Classic at the University Tennis Center in New Orleans, La.
