LA Tech Opens Fall Slate at Warhawk Invitational
Sept. 21, 2017
RUSTON – For the third straight year, the Louisiana Tech women’s tennis team will open on its fall season at the Warhawk Invitational which takes place this weekend starting Friday morning at Raymond Heard Stadium.
Hosted by ULM, the Lady Techsters will make the 30-minute drive down I-20 to take on several regional opponents. The tournament will start at 9 a.m. with doubles play, followed by two rounds of singles.
“We have not been together very long so we have been focusing a lot on team building and strengthening our relationships,” second-year head coach Amanda Stone said. “The newcomers are doing great. They are excited and hungry. I think they will really embrace the culture here.
“The season is long. It is going to be a process. We are very new team. I would like to see us come out and compete with no fear and a lot of fight. Really show who we are on the court. Be our best selves so when we come back to practices, we can capitalize on what we need to strengthen.”
Four freshmen will be making their first appearance as Lady Techsters.
Doubles will be played as a regular set with no-ad scoring while singles will be a best out of three set, also with no-ad scoring.
