The Louisiana Tech volleyball team (0-5, 0-0 WAC) dropped both matches against Lamar and Tulane with two competitive four set losses on the first day of the Lamar Invitational.
Head coach Adriano de Souza's squad fell to the Lamar Cardinals in its opening match Friday morning by a score of 25-14, 25-20, 18-25, 25-14 before dropping the second and final match of the day to Tulane 25-22, 19-25, 25-21, 25-16.
De Souza said the competitive matches are a good indication of the team's improvement over the course of the first five games of the season.
"The progress of our team is clear by the way they are dedicating themselves in each point, set and match they play," he said. "We are learning and gaining experience from every match we play. Our team is strong-minded and they understand we are in a learning process."
The team will conclude the tournament tomorrow at 3 p.m. against the Lady Bulldogs of South Carolina State.
