Techsters Unable to Pick Up Win at Tulane Tournament

NEW ORLEANS -- Louisiana Tech volleyball (1-5; 0-0 WAC) could not pick up a win at the Tulane Tournament over the weekend after losing in three sets to North Dakota State by scores of 13-25, 22-25 and 18-25.

Freshman Natasha Kolunija totaled seven kills for the match while finishing with eight digs. Junior Sam Crowder finished with six kills on the day, while sophomores Kara Jones and Taylor Fritz both totaled five kills apiece.

Senior Debora Bolonhini finished with 20 digs on the day, while setting sophomore Bianca Bin totaled 23 assists and 11 digs for the match.

On Friday, Tech lost the first match of the Tulane Tournament against the Jackonsville State Gamecocks (4-4) in three straight sets by scores of 22-25, 23-25 and 20-25.

Junior KC Clayton and Crowder both put up good numbers; they finished with nine kills apiece while totaling 3.5 blocks of Tech's 6.0 blocks for the match. Clayton continued her impressive junior campaign with a .474 attack percentage for the match.

Bin finished with 21 assists, while Bolonhini totaled 14 digs for the match Friday.

Tech out-blocked JSU 6.0 to 4.0 on the day.

The Techsters open Western Athletic Conference play at home Thursday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. in the Thomas Assembly Center.
