RUSTON, La. - The UTSA Roadrunners downed Louisiana Tech (3-15, 0-6 WAC) Thursday night in Convocation Center in straight sets by a score of 25-17, 25-15, 25-19 in the teams first meeting as conference opponents.
Head coach Adriano de Souza and his squad failed to get in a rhythm early on in the match as UTSA (11-5, 4-2 WAC) jumped out to a lead in the first set and never looked back, sweeping the visiting Techsters in straight sets on its home court.
"Overall, our team is having moments where we play well and moments where we give up too many points in a row," de Souza said. "The players are now focused on fixing some parts of their game and preparing for our next match."
Tech was outhit in the match .320 to .098 by the UTSA Roadrunners, who are currently fourth in the WAC standings, and recorded 1.0 block to UTSA's 7.0.
Junior Clara Vido and sophomore Bridget Benditz led the team offensively with eight and seven kills respectively and a combined 16.0 points in the match, while senior Stephany Salas returned to the lineup as the starting libero against the Roadrunners to record 15 digs.
The Lady Techsters will now turn their focus to Texas State at 2 p.m. Saturday on the road as the team is still searching for its first conference win since 2010.
