RUSTON, La. - Despite leading 23-18 in the first set and the chance to close out the game, the Louisiana Tech Lady Techster volleyball team (3-23, 0-14 WAC) faltered and fell in straight sets Thursday night to the visiting Texas State Bobcats 25-23, 25-13, 25-19.
After closing out the first set, Texas State (13-12, 8-6 WAC) dominated offensively to take the match and the season series from the Lady Techsters in the first of Tech's final two home matches of the year.
Dalane Guidry and Caitlin Germany paced the offense on the night with identical performances from both players, who had seven kills each and a .312 hitting percentage. Both players also totaled two blocks each at the net.
The Techsters will now turn their attention to the UTSA Roadrunners, who will roll into town to face Tech at 11 a.m. Saturday in the team's final home match of the season, where both of this year's seniors will be honored postgame.
"This is a special week for our program since Gabryel and Stephany will play their last two homes matches for Louisiana Tech," he said. "They have been working really well on and off the court for the development of our volleyball program, and I would like to invite all of our Louisiana Tech fans to come to our match Saturday and watch them one final time."
The match Saturday will kick off a day full of Tech sporting events, as it preceded the No. 22 Bulldog football team's Homecoming game against UTSA set to begin at 3 p.m. Saturday.
