RUSTON--The Lady Techster volleyball team won one set but was unable to pull off the upset over the second place team in the conference, Idaho (13-12, 9-3 WAC), Thursday night in the Thomas Assembly Center. Set scores were 25-19, 22-25, 25-16 and 25-16.

Tech (14-15, 4-9 WAC) had four different players record double-digit digs in Kassia Pinto, Nataliya Panova, Lori Hunsucker and Jennifer Goodwin. Pinto led all Techsters with 19 digs while also picking up her fourth double-double of the season as the junior also totaled 10 kills. However, the Techsters were led on the night by senior KC Clayton who registered 12 kills in the match.

The two teams spent the first set feeling each other out as they traded points until late in the set. With Idaho holding onto a 21-18 lead, the Vandals would rally to go on a 4-1 run to win the first set. Clayton led Tech with four kills in the set.

The second set was a battle with 10 tie scores and five lead changes. Every time Tech seemed to be in control of the set, the Vandals would climb back in and linger around. With the score tied at 21-21, Tech would go on a 3-0 run to put some distance between the two teams and would eventually win the set 25-22.

After a long and hard fought second set win, the Techsters came out sluggish in the third. With the score tied at 8 a-piece Idaho would go on an 8-1 run to put the set out of reach, taking a 16-9 lead. Tech could not rebound from the run and the Vandals would win the set 25-16.

The fourth set was all Idaho as the Vandals jumped out to a 7-1 lead to begin the set. Idaho did not let-up either, going on to win the set 25-16 and the match.

Tech volleyball returns to the court Saturday afternoon as they get set to take on Boise State in the Thomas Assembly Center at 4:00 p.m. CT. Directly following the match the Louisiana Tech men's basketball team will play an exhibition game vs. Lincoln University (Mo.) at 7:00 p.m.
