RUSTON, La. - In a rematch of their first meeting earlier this season, the Louisiana Tech volleyball team put forth a valiant effort in a five-set loss to the Seattle Redhawks (25-23, 25-17, 23-25, 21-25, 15-10) at Connolly Center Saturday night.
The Techsters (3-26, 0-17 WAC) combined to record 61 kills against Seattle (9-18, 4-13 WAC), as head coach Adriano de Souza's squad rallied to win the third and fourth sets after facing a 2-0 deficit after two sets.
"Our team played well tonight," he said. "We fought until the end, and I am proud of their performance. We are looking forward to our next opportunity to compete again."
Several career and season superlatives were met in the match, as sophomore Maria Coelho recorded a personal best 51 assists in the match, while junior Clara Vido totaled a season-high 17 kills on the night. Vido also hit .209 against the Redhawks.
Tech had four different players in double digits in kills in Vido, Dalane Guidry, Caitlin Germany and Bridget Benditz on a night where the Techsters recorded the most kills in a single match this season.
The Lady Techsters also led the defensive charge Saturday for Tech with 11 total blocks compared to Seattle's seven.
The Techsters will return to action at 7 p.m. Thursday night as they visit the UT Arlington Mavericks in the 2012 regular season finale.
