RUSTON - The Louisiana Tech Lady Techster volleyball team wrapped up its 2012 campaign as the team fell in straight sets to UT Arlington 25-15, 25-14, 25-21 Thursday night in College Park Center in Arlington, Texas.
Junior middle blocker Caitlin Germany matched her season-high 12 kills against the Mavericks as she led the team in both kills and hitting percentage with .280 for the match. Junior Clara Vido also totaled nine kills for the Techsters.
Tonight's match against the Mavericks marked the final match for the two seniors on Tech's squad, as Gabryel Ording and Stephany Salas played their last match as Techsters. Salas ended the season with 370 kills and an average of 3.70, while Ording totaled 58 kills in 2012 and 27 total blocks.
Taylor Gross led the Mavericks on the night with 13 kills, while Charmaine Whitmore led the defensive effort with eight total blocks to lead UT Arlington to victory.
LA Tech finished the season 3-27 and 0-18 in Western Athletic Conference play, while UT Arlington clinched a spot in the conference tournament with the win over the Techsters tonight. Tech's season concludes now after failing to earn a spot in the postseason tournament.
