RUSTON, La. - The Louisiana Tech volleyball program opens season play this weekend in the Bearkat Invitational at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum in Huntsville, Texas.
"I know our players are excited to start what they believe will be a great season," said Sonnichsen. "Our team chemistry is the best that I have experienced as the head coach at Tech, and our talent level will mature into the best depth we have ever had."
The Lady Techsters open play on Friday at 4:30 p.m. when they take on the Broncs of Texas-Pan American. They will close out the tournament Saturday with a day-night double header against Rutgers and the host school, Sam Houston State.
"The opening tournament is going to be a challenge for our young team. UTPA has a new coach, Rutgers is a very good east coast team, and Sam Houston is always good," said Sonnichsen. "I expect us to compete and play with passion, while drastically improving each match."
Live stats for each match of the tournament can be found at www.go.bearkats.com. Live video streaming is also available on Sam Houston State's web site for a $8.95 charge.
