Volleyball Opens Home Slate with Lady Techster Invitational
Sept. 7, 2017
RUSTON, La. - After opening the 2017 season with three weeks on the road, the Louisiana Tech women's volleyball team will return home to kick off its home schedule with the Lady Techster Invitational, running Sep. 8-9.
Tech has also shown strong signs of improvement above the net. Madeline Davis paces a unit that ranks fifth in C-USA in blocks per set, averaging 2.16 on the season. Davis, herself, averages a team-high 1.16 blocks per set, and ranks seventh among all league leaders.
The Lady Lions are currently on a three-match losing skid, dropping all three at the Redhawk Invitational last weekend.
Memphis heads out on the road for the third-straight weekend (first time since 1991), after taking two of three at the UCA Invitational last weekend. This will be the first ever trip to Ruston for the Tigers volleyball program.
Hannah Flowers leads the way offensively for the Tigers, with 66 kills (3.00/set) while Alyssa Kronberg has paced the team with 110 digs (third-most among AAC leaders).
Sam Houston State was dealt a 5-set loss in its home opener to Texas State on Tuesday. The Bearkats’ lone win of the season came against UL-Monroe at the Chattanooga Classic.
Admission is free to all matches this weekend, which feature opening weekend promotions. For Tech’s first match on Friday at noon, there will be free pizza for the first 200 students to the TAC.
